The Rane Lab The Rane Lab
My old place of employment--if you can consider graduate school employment--is the laboratory of Master Stanley G. Rane. The lab is located within the Department of Biological Sciences and is a member of the Purdue University Neuroscience program.

The laboratory is interested in ion channel regulation and cell growth control--that is, the lab is interested in something that would only interest scientists. That isn't to say that the studies are not important. They are. I just mention it because there are folk who quiver with ecstasy when reviewing spreadsheets and graphs, who thrill at the idea of spending a lifetime in a cubicle performing dull and routine tasks, and who happily deal with the uncontrollable and often frustrating behavior of certain biological species. These folk ultimately become financial accountants. Scientists are the same, except they prefer expensive laboratories to cubicles.

In any case, if you would like to know more about the lab and the details of the research, stop by the web site. Be wary: The site is designed for folks who enjoy expensive laboratories and hence pulls no punches when describing its work. A less sadistic approach is to learn more about the research for which I can claim responsibilty. There I describe the basics of my research without treading too far into the grit of science. So if you wish to learn more about my work, or simply enjoy my witty writing, read on.
