Ultima: The Dark Core The Dark Core
Bah! I had hoped that thou wouldst restrain thy curiosity. But 'tis my fault, I suppose, for mentioning the subject in the first place. Very well, I shall tell thee more of the Dark Core.

'Twas during my time on the Isle of Fire that I first met the Avatar. During our initial meeting, I, being the fool that I was, boasted of my discovery of the Dark Core, the artifact that once harbored the mind of the evil Exodus. 'Tis no surprise then that the Avatar declared that the Core was a danger to Britannia and banished it to the Void. In my attempt to stop the banishment of such a prized artifact, I, too, fell into the Void. There, the Core merged with my consciousness.

I found myself within a strange world. Fearful at first, I soon learned that I had an enormous opportunity to study this artifact from within itself. That is, until I met the Avatar for a second time. . .

My second encounter with the Avatar is retold in Ultima: The Dark Core, a work of "interactive fan fiction" written in the strange tongue known as "Javascript." 'Tis the first, and possibly only, tale of its kind; certainly an experience thou wilt not forget.
